WOLF KING A STORY OF LIGHTS AND SHADOWS

This Whisky, distilled in the ancient lands of Al-Andalus, tells the story of the controversial Ibn Mardaris, known as the Wolf King by his enemies.

Although he was known as the Wolf King by Christians, his real name was Muhammad ibn Mardanix or Ibn Mardanís, and he reigned in Murcia (Mursiyya at the time) from 1147 to 1172, being one of the most prosperous periods for the region's economy.

Born in Peñíscola, Mardanix became an Andalusian leader and military man who, after the end of Almoravid rule, proclaimed himself independent emir of Mursiyya and Balansiyya (Valencia), becoming effective ruler of all Xarq al-Andalus until 1172. He was a key figure in the Second Taifa Kingdoms and opposed the invasion of the Almohads, who were unable to completely conquer his domains until his death.

A fierce warrior and lover of culture, his reign extended from Castellón to the gates of Seville.

This Muslim emir is truly one of the most interesting and important figures of the Spanish Middle Ages, as well as a key player in the intermediate period between the Almoravid and Almohad dominations.

During a long reign of light and shadow, joy, culture and lust met in great palace parties in this prosperous land, Mursiyya.

The land where this whisky is distilled is full of contrasts, a mixture of cultures, stories that tell us about battles and celebrations. Rey Lobo brings together this dual symbiosis of mystery and revelry, beauty and darkness, fire and gloom.
